Q1: Tell us about yourself.
I’m an illustrator from the south. Traditionally trained at a young age, I attend art middle and art high school in south Florida. Then I graduated from SVA where I continued my studies of drawing and painting, with a concentration in illustration. There I was able to study the art of storytelling. My aim is to create stand alone images that compel the viewer to dive into the media it’s married to; whether that be comics, articles, album covers and posters.
Q2: What differentiates you and your work from others?
I’m drawn to fiction, fantasy, comic books, music and hip hop; often switching between these subjects fluidly. I think I have a specific style as well. Patrons still recognize my work by the line quality. They describe and recall my line work as; soft yet energetic, cartoonish, but borders on realism. I look to Alphose Mucha and Egon Shiele for insight on line versatility and confidence. Norman Rockwell for vinyets of character and expression. Lastly, Ashley Wood for his roughness and wonder.
