Q: Tell us about yourself.
I am a painter currently based in New York. I create narrative oil paintings that use a limited palette reminiscent of a bygone era. The scenes I create are both familiar and unsettling, using humor to shed light on ideas surrounding relationships, time and feminity.
I hold an MFA from The New York Academy of Art and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. I’ve been awarded two Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grants and a Fulbright Research Grant. I have had two solo exhibitions in New York and Italy and participated in a number of group exhibitions with Sugarlift Gallery in NYC and BBA Gallery in Berlin among others.
Q: What differentiates you and your work from others?
I believe my painting style to be quite unique. My work is realistic but painterly and that’s not something I see very much in the art world today. Having any sense of humor in painting is also a bit unusual. I like to think of my work as encouraging thought but not without a little chuckle. We don’t encounter that enough.
