Q: Tell us about yourself.

My aim is to engineer a personal bridge between the audience and the performer, pianist and improviser. I recently gave several tours of interdisciplinary recitals where I performed Declaration of Aesthetics, Twelve Over Twelve, which included two benefit concerts for the Kaohsiung City Cerebral Palsy Association, and The Dance of SevenS Deadly Sins, of which was reviewed by The Boston Musical Intelligencer to have “invoked perhaps a little envy.” Having earned both BM and MM from The Juilliard School, I am currently a doctoral candidate at the New England Conservatory, where I was named the school’s representation of “virtuosity” in 2019. My major teachers include Jerome Lowenthal, Hung-Kuan Chen, Roberto Poli, Ran Blake, Bruce Brubaker, and Joe Morris.

Q: What differentiates you and your work from others?

In an attempt to expand the boundaries of a traditional concert, I have fused many different genres into my repertoire, mainly classical, contemporary, soul, rock, pop, and free jazz. I also strive to benefit the community- my CD promotional tour this year included appearances in more than ten radio stations in Taiwan and two benefit concerts promoting the Kaohsiung City Cerebral Palsy Association. I have always felt that musicians have a responsibility to help and give back to their community. We must not forget our roots, and that’s why I have chosen to start charity events in Kaohsiung, my birth city, with hopes to expand and give back to more communities worldwide.
